Most acepromazine poisonings occur in curious children or when people unintentionally mistake it for their own medication. Typical acepromazine oral dosage is 1 to 3 mg/kg (0.5 to 1.5 mg per pound) and injectable dosage is 0.02 to 0.2 mg/kg (0.01 to 0.1 mg per pound).
